LIONS v UNIVERSITY OF NSW

The Seniors started off if very positive fashion at Village Green on Saturday arvo. Unfortunately we were unable to put scoreboard pressure on UNSW as we missed numerous set shots in the first half. 2 goals 15 for the half is not great kicking, and no doubt some extra goal-kicking practice will be had at North Dalton during the week.

Trent Botwin swung the game our way after he moved forward in the second half as we hit the lead at the final change. Uni finished off the strongest and overran us in the final 15 minutes to record a good win. We continue to put ourselves in winning positions against good sides, and we are confident that our first win of the year isn’t going to be too far away.

Troy kicked 5 goals and played a great skipper’s game and Dave Goodley, Jeremy Daniher, and Erin Franklin all continued their great form whilst Michael Toussis got back to some of his best form with a great performance in the middle. This week we take on St George in a must-win game for the boys.

Our First Div boys recorded their first win for the year with a spirited performance against the Bulldogs. After a couple of close losses during the season it was fantastic for the boys to get across the line finally. Tim Robb kicked 4 goals and also took the most underwhelming spekkie ever seen. Ryan ‘Bonkers’ Woodward, Rami Maarbani, Halcolm Blight, Gilbert Patterson and Luke ‘Goodley picked up your friend’ Rutter played great games, whilst Patrick Ireland won the mug, and subsequently broke it at the pub. Well done to the boys on their first win for the year.

This Sunday we take on St George and Macquarie Uni at NDP on Sunday. There will be a complimentary wine for all mothers who are present and as usual there will be raffles and other games run on the day. Please get along and support the Lions as we look to chalk up our first Senior win for the year. Go you Lions!!!!!
