Brad Ainsworth to Play Game 300
18/08/09
Â
Wollongong veteran Brad Ainsworth will chalk up his 300th club game this weekend when the Lions tackle the East Coast Eagles at North Dalton Park. Brad joined the Lions way back in 1989 from Illawarra League club University in the same year as the Lions made their way into the Sydney competition, debuting against Balmain in a narrow loss at Drummoyne Oval. Brad has seen and done so much in his 20 plus years with the Lions, and his personal highlights include a Reserve Grade Premiership in 1991 and a Reserve Grade Best & Fairest Award in 1995. Brad was the the old SFA competition's leading goalkicker in Reserve Grade in 2001 and was the Lions Reserve Grade coach from 1998 to 2000. Brad served as a club committee member from 1999 to 2005 and was fittingly awarded Club Life Membership at the end of the 2005 season.
Â
As much as Brad loves running around getting a kick, he also loves the social aspect of a football club and will no doubt treasure the many friendships he has formed during his time with the club. Brad's loyalty to club and teammates has been unquestionable over the years, and a large number of his peers will be on hand on Saturday to help celebrate his teriffic milestone. All Lions members, past and present would like to congratulate Brad on reaching 300 games, and for his dedication to the club and game. Well done Brad.
