Wollongong youngster Beau Black is the AFL Sydney NAB Rising Star nominee for Round 8.

Coming to the Wollongong Lions in 2010 from the Bomaderry Tigers in the South Coast AFL, 17 year old Beau Black has made an instant impact in the Sydney Premier League in the first half of the season.

Playing all 8 games so far in the top grade and regularly featuring in the best players, Beau followed up a stellar performance in the win against Balmain in round 7 with a great game in trying conditions against the table topping Western Suburbs on the weekend. Beau shows maturity and skills beyond his years and is the benchmark of physicality and courage in the young Lions squad.

Beau started playing AFL at the age of 12 and won several club and South Coast Junior B & F awards. As a 15 year old, he captained the U/17s Bomaderry Tigers, winning the 2008 premiership and voted Grand Final Best on Ground.

Beau has been selected in the South Coast and ACT CATS representative sides for the past four years and was also selected in the Victorian Team for the V-Line Cup in 2008. Beau is currently in his second year of a three year scholarship with Geelong and Wollongong look forward to seeing Beau continue to grow and develop as a footballer.
